Here is a comprehensive look at what each group offers.
Cooperative Play Groups (18 months- 5 years)
Cooperative play groups are limited to 2-3 children and 1 therapist and focus on building both cooperative play skills and imaginative play for young children with an autism spectrum disorder or related developmental disability. These groups will run during the day and the children will be grouped according to age range and level of play.
Social Skills/Social Thinking Groups
Social Skills/Social Thinking Groups will be limited to 4 children per group with 1 therapist and will focus on developing age appropriate social skills and social thinking skills, including the hidden rules that govern friendships and expected behaviors in the community setting. These groups will meet 1 time per week in the afternoon/evening and will also have 1 community based activity a month (for Grades 3- HS). The children will be grouped according to grade level, with groups forming for Pre-K-2, Grades 3-5, Middle School and High School.
Girls Only Club
Girls Only Club is a friendship based club for girls with nuance based social communication disorders (e.g., anxiety disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, etc). It is a safe place where girls can come together to connect, grow and build lasting friendships. The girls in this club will learn about how to establish friendships, maintain friendships and deal with conflict and bullying that can occur in our schools and communities. This is a club all about girls, for our girls. The girls will also have the opportunity to engage with each other using games, crafts, electronics and other activities that help them develop relationships with each other. Examples might include: Friendship loom/bracelet making, painting/act, Lego Friends, Mindcraft and more. The girls will be grouped according to grade level, with groups forming for Pre-K-2, Grades 3-5, Middle School and High School. This club will meet 1 time per week in the evening.
1:1 Therapeutic Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for Children with Autism
1:1 ABA is offered to our young children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Programming is based on an intensive, clinic based model, where the child is seen in the clinic setting for 6-7 hours each day, based on the child’s individual needs. Programming focuses on developing language skills, social skills, self-care skills, and pre-academic/academic skills using the principles of applied behavior analysis. All 1:1 ABA sessions are delivered by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and overseen by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) as designated through the BACB.
1:1 Behavioral Consultation & Parent Training
1:1 behavioral consultation and parent training are offered for a wide range of areas including aggressive and self-injurious behaviors, independent living skills, emotional regulation and coping skills and more. Sessions are conducted by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA).
ARD Advocacy and IEP Development
ARD Advocacy and IEP/BIP development is available from our BCBA’s that are also certified teachers in the state of Texas. At Navigating Behavior Solutions, we believe in working collaboratively with our local school districts to enhance and achieve programming for your child that will allow him to flourish in the school setting.
